The Day Dev Roared Too Loud
Dev is a little monster who finds school very, very hard, until he discovers his own talent.
Dev the dinosaur was starting Monster School. The classroom was full of little monsters. Lola the unicorn said, ‘Today, we will practise roaring.’ Everyone roared except Dev.
Dev tried to roar, but only a tiny squeak came out. The other monsters giggled. Dev’s cheeks went purple. He wished he could disappear. Kira said, ‘Don’t worry. It takes practice.’
Next was stomping, and Dev stomped too lightly. Then jumping, but Dev bumped his head. Dev felt like the worst monster ever. At lunchtime, he sat alone with a sandwich.
After lunch, Lola said, ‘Show us what you are best at.’ Dev gulped. Then he painted a brilliant picture. The class gasped. It was wonderful! Nobody else could do that.
‘You have a gift for drawing,’ said Lola. Kira grinned. ‘Better than roaring!’ Dev beamed. ‘I’m a good monster after all.’ And from then on, Dev was a star of Monster School.
